Carl Vine interviewed on the subject of his new violin concerto

This summer, Carl Vine delivers a brand new violin concerto to Australian audiences. The new work will be premiered on 20 and 21 July at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, in a performance given by esteemed violinist Dene Olding alongside the Australian Youth Orchestra and conductor Thomas Dausgaard. Carl Vine wins Don Banks Music Award 2005

Carl Vine is the recipient of the 2005 Don Banks Music Award, the highest accolade that can be given to an artist by the Music Board of the Australia Council. The announcement was made on 12 November by the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator the Hon Helen Coonan, at a gathering of friends and music industry colleagues. Carl Vine’s Cello Concerto (2004) collected the award for Best Performance of an Australian Composition at the recent 2005 Classical Music Awards (presented by the Australian Performing Rights Association and the Australian Music Centre). Read more

Takács to Premiere Vine’s Fourth Quartet

Carl Vine has recently completed his String Quartet No 4, a Musica Viva Australia commission to mark his own 50th birthday. The 15-minute work will be premiered by the renowned Takács Quartet on a 9-date tour of all the Australian state capitals, commencing in Perth on 22 November and ending in Melbourne on 6 December.
