Harvey’s String Trio Premiered at Witten New Music Days

The prestigious Witten New Music Days saw two important performances of Harvey’s music in 2005. His new 15-minute String Trio (a WDR commission) received its world premiere on 24 April, by Ensemble Recherche, whilst on 23 April Ensemble Intercontemporain took up the virtuosic Death of Light, Light of Death, inspired by Grunewald’s renowned Issenheim Altarpiece. On 17 March the London Sinfonietta gave the first performance of a major new work for ensemble and live electronics by Jonathan Harvey, in London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. It received its continental premiere at Ars Musica in Brussels on 21 March, at the closing concert of this year’s festival. Read more
