Ken Burton is a versatile arranger and composer. He has composed and arranged for television programmes, radio programmes, albums, concerts, and functions. Artists for whom Ken has arranged include Leslie Garrett (BBC 2 Leslie Garrett Christmas Show), and Willard White (ITV Christmas programme), Black Voices, and songs which have appeared on BBC Eastenders, Songs Of Praise, Choir Of The Year, On A Street In Jerusalem, BBC Breakfast Television, Prom At The Palace Jubilee Concert, and the list goes on... In 2005, Ken directed, composed/arranged and conducted the massive Soul Symphony Project for CBSO (City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), band, and choir of 150.
Ken is principal conductor of the award-winning London Adventist Chorale (BBC/Sainsbury Choir Of The Year 1995, BBC UK Gospel Choir Of The Year 1996, GEM award winners 2005). He is musical director and conductor of the Croydon SDA Gospel Choir, whose album The Very Best Of Gospel and appearances on BBC Eastenders and Flashmob Opera have received wide acclaim. Ken founded and directs and radio session ensemble, AVE (Adventist Vocal Ensemble). He has also organised and performed with session ensembles for programmes including ITV’s X-Factor, Ant And Dec, This Morning, BBC Songs Of Praise, and the Mike Doyle Show.
Workshops, training sessions and seminars are all part of Ken’s international itinerary. He has shared insights into various musical forms on television and radio interviews in programmes including BBC Radio 3’s The Choir and BBC Television’s Songs Of Praise.
Ken has had much experience in judging on programmes such as BBC television’s Choir Of The Year, Channel 4’s Gospel Singer Of The Year, and BBC Radio Chorister Of The Year, working alongside personalities such as Carrie Grant, Heather Small, Clare Teal, Jocelyn Brown and Huw Edwards.
