Anne Lovett

Pianist and composer Anne Lovett pairs a crystalline tonal clarity with a huge sonic power. Combining absolute virtuosity with a unique expressiveness, Anne has earned an international following.

Her stunning new release for 1631 Recordings ‘The Eleventh Hour’ reveals a new sonic world, interweaving subtle electronics with layered melodic piano. The album is a departure from her previous virtuosic classical solo piano album ‘Beyond (and below)’, which when released in 2012 received critical acclaim from Gramophone Magazine. ‘The Eleventh Hour’ features the London Contemporary Orchestra, one of the UK’s most innovative and respected ensembles routinely heard alongside such luminaries as Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood or Mica Levi, and later phenomenal cellist and composer Oliver Coates.

"While firmly rooted in the here and now, Lovett’s quietly plaintive tonal music echoes the European tradition, from Bach to Satie and beyond, and feels like a soulful elegy for a Britain that has lost its bearings."
The Guardian (Stephen Pritchard), 11 November 2018
