Peter Tchaikovsky

(1840 - 1893)

Russian

A Popular composer of the Romantic period, Tchaikovsky composed some of the most performed ballets ever written, such as Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. His music incorporates some national elements such as folk song and orchestration, but his approach to composition was much more ‘western’ than that of his fellow Russian composers.
