One of the world's most highly regarded string ensembles, the Emerson Quartet, will present the world premiere of Adès's eagerly-awaited new work The Four Quarters at Carnegie Hall in New York on 12 March 2011. This is only Adès's second foray into the string quartet genre, since his Arcadiana composed in 1994.

After the world premiere on the East coast, the Emersons will travel cross-continent to Los Angeles to perform The Four Quarters at the composer-focused festival ‘Aspects of Adès’ showcased at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The quartet then greet European audiences at the Louvre in Paris with a performance on 6 April before their final stop at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on 7 April.
