John Woolrich was the subject of a BBC Scottish SO Portrait Concert on 18 March in the concert hall of Broadcasting House, Glasgow.
Conducted by Martyn Brabbins, the portrait included the Oboe Concerto (soloist Nicholas Daniel, fresh from his success performing the piece at last year’s Aldeburgh Festival), Double Mercury, Fanfarronada and the ubiquitous elegy for viola and strings, Ulysses Awakes.
The entire concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now.
