'Heroines in Music' is a new CD release from Carl Davis, including premiere recordings of newly-created suites from his music to the much-loved BBC TV series Pride & Prejudice and Cranford, in addition to his scores to The French Lieutenant's Woman and Hotel du Lac. Davis and the Philharmonia Orchestra are joined by various soloists including Melvyn Tan, Amy Dickson, Lawrence Power, Jonathan Aasgaard, Patrick Savage and Matthew Trusler. Both suites are now available from the Faber Music Hire Library.
'The four scores included on this disc provide a consistently enjoyable listening experience, and Davis conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in passionate readings of this marvelous music. If you are unfamiliar with Davis’ work, "Heroines in Music" will serve as a welcome introduction. That the literary gimmick works as well as it does is a testament to Davis’ talent and craftsmanship.'
