Colin Matthews's A Voice To Wake has been nominated for the BBC Radio 3 Listeners' Award, one of the 2005 British Composer Awards.

The work was broadcast on 5 October and can be heard via the BBC's Listen Again facility here. Voting is taking place throughout October either by phone or online. The Britush Composer Awards ceremony takes place in London on 9 December.

A Voice to Wake was premiered by the Nash Ensemble as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations on 16 March 2005 in London’s Purcell Room. It was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 and is a 12-minute song-cycle that draws together texts from two poems by the Scots poet John Davidson (1857-1909), ‘Battle’ and ‘Eclogue-New Year’s Eve’. Claron McFadden sang the vocal line.
