Faber Music is proud to announce the launch of a new digital initiative: choralstore.com.

This innovative online store allows the customer to purchase high quality digital choral sheet music for just £15*, for which they receive a licence to print up to 30 copies of the choral work for their choir.

Customers will be able to select from a large copyright catalogue, ranging from contemporary classical works to urtext masterworks; from folk to pop arrangements. And the customer will know that this website is totally legal/licensed, all works are of consistently high quality, it’s easy to use and they can access the music immediately: 24/7. Such a website, wholly dedicated to choral music, has never before been available.

We believe that our customers have the right to access the highest quality music and the fullest range of catalogue whenever they choose, to peruse the score in its entirety before they buy, and for price never to be a barrier to exploring new music. By launching choralstore.com, our ambition is to end the illegal practice of choirs photocopying music from a single purchased copy, by providing them with an affordable alternative and high quality customer service.

How it works

Users of choralstore.com will be able to:

• use the simple search facilities on the store to find the choral work they want (eg by title, composer, choral arrangement type (SATB, etc), genre, level of difficulty).

• fully peruse the score on screen, and stream audio clips of the arrangements where available, before they buy.

• have the option either to purchase: physical printed multiple copies of the work for their choir, which will be mailed to them within 48 hours (subject to availability), OR pay a digital purchase price of just £15*, which includes a licence to print or photocopy up to 30 copies of the music. (Customers will be able to contact us directly if they wish to obtain a license for a greater number of copies for larger choirs).

• On receipt of payment, the customer will be emailed with an invoice and licence, and a link to their ‘download’ (digital file), to which they will have access for 7 days and from which they can print their legal copy. In order to protect the copyright, the customer will not be emailed a pdf, or be able to download it onto their computer.

Key features

• Ability to buy single works from Faber Music’s own choral catalogue (including pieces from such series as Choral Programme Series, Choral Signature Series, Choral Basics, Faber Young Voices and Choir Rocks!)

• Works also from many of the world’s leading publishers, including Boosey & Hawkes and Peters Edition.

• Ability to buy either digital downloads with an accompanying licence, or physical hard copies.

• Ability to peruse the scores on line and listen to many of the works before you buy.

• Ability for the customer to submit/publish a short review of the experience they had in performing the work with their choir. (A “rate this”, where users can rate the piece they have bought, will be introduced in phase 2).

Richard King, Faber Music’s CEO, said “As a singer myself, I am passionate about choral publishing, but am very aware that choirs’ limited budgets and resources means that they are often unable to explore new and wonderful music. We hope that the launch of choralstore.com will be the answer to the prayers of many choirs, librarians – and their audiences! – as we move into the future.”

Simon Halsey, internationally acclaimed choral director and choral consultant to Faber Music, said: “This website will transform choirs’ ability to explore a wealth of choral music, easily, quickly and affordably. I can’t wait to use it!
