Faber Music and pianist Joanna MacGregor unveil an exciting new piano repertoire project- Unbeaten Tracks.

Unbeaten Tracks is an innovative series of specially commissioned pieces designed to introduce players to contemporary sounds and styles in an interesting and approachable way. The series has already made a profound mark on the music world with its books for woodwind and brass, and Faber Music is now delighted to work with pianist Joanna MacGregor on a book for Grade 4-6 level pianists.

Joanna is renowned for her broad musical tastes and for championing contemporary music and has commissioned new works from some of today’s most talented composers.  Talking about the project she said “I'm delighted to have worked on this new repertoire books; my aim was to produce something fresh and exciting, drawing on diverse, funky contemporary styles. I'm thrilled that so many composers have responded with verve and imagination: from cool jazzers Andy Sheppard, Matt Bourne and John Parricelli, to the imaginative landscapes of Peter McGarr, Peter Sculthorpe and the brilliant young Japanese pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama, all the musicians have thought carefully about the technical skills associated with Grades 4-6. The books are designed to challenge and entertain, and give young pianists a chance to explore music with a groove......"

The Unbeaten Tracks pieces were premiered by Joanna at this year’s international European Piano Teacher’s Association Conference.

The clarinet and bassoon collections join Unbeaten Tracks volumes already published for Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon, Trumpet, Violin, Cello and Organ. All have been warmly welcomed and received outstandingly good reviews.
