The Christmas season is always a hectic time for everyone, and pianist Joanna MacGregor is no exception. One of the most innovative and eclectic of today’s performers, Joanna divides her time between playing classical, jazz and contemporary music. December has brought the culmination of her UK-wide ‘Art of Fugue’ tour. Featuring herself on different keyboard instruments, Shrikanth Sriram on tabla, Andy Sheppard on saxophone, electronics and a fifteen-piece wind and string ensemble (the Britten Sinfonia), this gloriously resonant arrangement casts new light on Bach’s extra-ordinary last work.  The reviews were ecstatic.

Those unable to catch Joanna in December can see her – again with Andy Sheppard – performing a new programme of spirituals and Americana in various UK venues throughout January.
