Gabriel Prokofiev's Concerto for Turntables & Orchestra is to be taken up by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and Vladimir Jurowski.  Together with DJ Switch they will give three performances of the work this summer, with dates in Symphony Hall, Birmingham (3 August), Snape Maltings (4 August) and, finally, at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, London on 6 August (the latter to be broadcast on BBC 2 TV).

Prokofiev has been commissioned to make a new version of the Concerto for Turntables, for DJ and large orchestra (the original line-up is for chamber orchestra), especially for the NYOGB's summer programme.  The Concerto is available on the NonClassical label and can also be heard on Spotify.

'The Concerto is a terrific piece: inventive, inherently musical and so provocative I am sure Gabriel's artist father and composer grandfather would have approved of the sheer originality that infuses this young man's latest work.'
