As in London we don our hats and scarves and contemplate Christmas shopping, Pam Wedgwood—composer, teacher, performer and international workshopper—has been packing for far warmer climes. For in December she undertakes her first workshop tour of Malaysia.

Beginning on Penang Island on 2 December, Pam is travelling to the capital city Kuala Lumpur for 4 December, via Ipoh on the 3rd. She then heads south to Johor Baru for 5 December, before finishing in Malacca on the 6th. The ‘Music Mix’ tour is organised by Rhythm MP, one of the country’s leading music distributors. The workshops consist of a variety of practical activities and advice for teachers, distilled from Pam’s 30 years of experience in music education, and offer a new approach to teaching within a graded examination system. This includes tips on choosing the right repertoire, improving the ear, simple improvisation, creative composition and, most important of all, how to inspire your pupils!

With an emphasis on practicality and fun, Pam intersperses each session with performances of pieces from her many series, including the best-selling Jazzin’ About, After Hours and Up-Grade!. And as if that wasn’t already enough, on her first day in Malaysia - 30 November - Pam will have adjudicated at a piano festival featuring 160 students!  Let’s hope there’s time for a well-earned rest on the white sands of Malaysia’s beaches too ...
