On 30th November Carl Davis will take to the stage of the Royal Festival Hall to conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra in a special screening. In this performance of the elaborately tinted and toned restoration by Photoplay Productions and BFI, music and film lovers will be given a rare opportunity to experience one of the greatest achievements in cinema history; a seamless blend of traditional material and Davis’s own unique creative genius. The last time this film and music pairing were performed – at San Francisco’s 2012 Silent Film Festival – the LA Times reported that ‘the audience had just lived through one of the world’s great cinematic experience.’
