The Nash Ensemble premiered a Colin Matthews composition as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations on 16 March in London’s Purcell Room. A Voice To Wake was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 and is a 12-minute song-cycle draws together texts from two poems by the Scots poet John Davidson (1857-1909), ‘Battle’ and ‘Eclogue-New Year’s Eve’. Claron McFadden sang the vocal line.

The sell-out concert also included Knussen's Ophelia Dances Book 1 and Anderson's Poetry Nearing Silence.
