Faber Music is looking for a Promoter/Publicist to join its busy Promotions team. The role would suit a music graduate with several years’ experience in the music business who is motivated to promote new music.
 
Charm, creativity, enthusiasm and the ability to write good copy is essential, as is a willingness to work with a small team of music lovers dedicated to servicing the needs of, and providing opportunities for, our internationally acclaimed house composers. You will be confident and comfortable creating dialogues with musicians and music administrators. Familiarity with web content management systems is highly desirable.

Hours: Full Time 
Salary: Commensurate with experience

General promotion
*To devise and implement promotional projects (whether delivered by mail, email, in person etc.) in association with colleagues
*To travel to concerts, festivals etc. where appropriate, representing Faber Music and supporting the company’s composers
*To ‘network’ on all possible occasions (concerts, receptions etc.)
*To create new contacts for our music – to re-establish and nurture on-going contacts
 
Dissemination of information/publicity
1. Print
*To write and edit Fortissimo – the twice-yearly newsletter
*To design and edit other promotional leaflets, composer brochures etc.
*To prepare adverts for concert/festival programmes (infrequent)
 
2. Digital
*Populate Faber Music website with composer data and photos
*Write news stories for same
*Track reviews for promotional use
*Write and design e-newsletter
*Maintain and develop e-newsletter mailing list
*Write/update composer biographies 
 
Admin
*To form constructive relationships with our composers and assist them where required in a variety of ways, including sending out scores/recordings to performers
*To support promotion by manufacturing CDs where necessary
*To send out scores and recordings and update the office database accordingly
*To work with the New Works and Promotions Administrator on Promotion Meetings – draw up agenda
*To assist colleagues in maintaining orderly maintenance of office filing and data
*To respond to general enquiries re. the catalogue or composers
*Organise composer parties where relevant
*Manage composer photo library and arrange photo shoots where necessary
 
 
Person specification
 
Essential
*Two or more years’ experience of working in arts administration
*A flair for writing appropriate copy
*High level of computer literacy
*Strong musical background with an interest in contemporary music
 
Desirable
*Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and an ability to adapt to new computer systems (e.g. web content management systems)
