Leila Josefowicz is a master of contemporary violin repertoire, and is known for captivating audiences with her technically precise and dramatic performances. 

She gave the world premiere of Colin Matthews’s first violin concerto, with the CBSO and Oliver Knussen, at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on 30 September. The Violin Concerto was programmed alongside other British masters, Elgar and Britten.  Further European performances are planned for November 2009 in Lyon, France, 2010 in Poland and 2011 in Finland. This work is a joint commission from the Feeney Trust and the CBSO.
