John Woolrich is Guest Artistic Director of the 2004 Aldeburgh Festival.

This uniquely gifted British composer has also been long recognised for his skills in programme-building, his encyclopaedic musical knowledge and his ability to persuade fellow musicians to participate in his enterprising projects he now steps to the fore of British musical life to lend his own unique touch to one of the UK’s most prestigious musical events.

Amongst a cornucopia of musical treats, only two of his own compositions will feature: the Oboe Concerto is on 19 June, in a CBSO concert conducted by Sakari Oramo, with Nicholas Daniel soloist, and on 21 June Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Diego Masson will perform his Envoi for viola and ensemble.
