Valgeir Sigurðsson's newest commission, Ghosts, will receive its world premiere at the end of this month. Crash Ensemble, Ireland's foremost contemporary music ensemble (for whom the work was commissioned by the Icelandic Composer Fund), will perform Sigurðsson's piece for 10 musicians with electronics, at the Project Arts Theatre, Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland on 29 November 2013.

Crash Ensemble's "Nordic" event also features two other Sigurðsson compositions: his Nebraska (for string quartet) and a new arrangement of Past Tundra from Draumalandið.  Other composers and countries to be featured include Tobias Brostrom (Sweden), Rune Glerup (Denmark), Kaija Saariaho (Finland) and Rolf Wallin (Norway).

"It's a thrilling opportunity to get to write a new piece for Crash, and to crash the party of Nordic composers! Both my older pieces presented by Crash this evening —Nebraska and Past Tundra— take a cue from real and imagined terrain. The all-new Ghosts is inspired by folklore and mystery."
