A new community choral piece by Alexander L’Estrange was launched in Arundel Cathedral on 6 June 2013. Commissioned by The Hanover Band, Zadok Rules - Hallelujah! is an 8-minute celebration of our rich cultural heritage, the outstanding beauty of the South Downs National Park and the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation. It is based on the music of Handel and Arne and set to a text that wittily traces the chronology of the Royal Family.
L’Estrange visited each participating school prior to the day that the Hanover Band performed at their nearest church venue, as part of the South Downs Church Tour, to give a singing workshop. On the 6 June 2013, the local schools joined composer/conductor L’Estrange, The Hanover Band, Alresford Community Choir, Hampshire County Youth Choir and Choristers from Arundel Cathedral at Arundel Cathedral to give the performance.
