The beautiful words for ‘Christ be near’ are taken from St Patrick. It is a very simple a cappella piece, the various voices weaving in and out of the fabric of the music. Each verse is followed by a soprano solo, the melody being underpinned by the choir singing or humming the shifting harmonies.
