This work was commissioned by The Philadelphia Orchestra, Christoph Eschenbach, Music Director. The world premiere was given by Elizabeth Starr Masoudnia and The Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Rossen Milanov at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Philadelphia, on April 27, 2005. This commission was made possible in part by grants from the Koussevitzky Music Foundation and from the Philadelphia Music Project, funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts, administered by Settlement Music School.
