I took the title for this dark capriccio from an aichemical inscription carved on the tomb of a sixteenth century bishop in Worcester Cathedral: 'while I blow, I hope'. 'Dum Spiro, Spero' was commissioned by the Klangspuren Festival for Teodoro Anzellotti.
