Set in a large department store. The Tramp, played by Charlie, wanders in, browsing, and intervenes in a massive fraud that the Manager and the Floorwalker are perpetrating. The principal prop is an up-and-down escalator which provides Charlie with some of his most spectacular gags!  As is traditional in these farces, the film ends with a complex chase involving Charlie, his crooked look-alike, the embezzling Manager, a lady detective and the cops!
