Oculi Mei

Oculi mei is scored for solo soprano, solo baritone, SATB choir, string quartet and organ. It opens with a quiet introduction played by the string quartet which is then joined by the choir quietly singing “ My eyes are on the Lord my God.” This is interrupted by a solo soprano singing verses of Psalm 41 who yearns for the consoling God. A baritone solo confirms his trust and hope in the Lord and both soprano and baritone join together for the final verse extolling their joy and praise. The piece ends with a recapitulation of the opening introduction played by the string quartet.
