technologic 145 was written for the 1998 ABC Young Composers Award. The first performance was given by the WASO 20th Century Ensemble, in Perth, Australia, on 14 May 1998. This version for chamber orchestra was made for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Benjamin Northey, who recorded the work for ABC Classics in February 2016.

Programme Notes
As the title suggests technologic 145 is largely inspired by techno music. The dominant characteristics of techno are repetition, driving rhythms and generally clear harmonic material. The middle movement (iv) utilises some structural elements of techno as well as its rhythm and harmony.
