Dame Evelyn Glennie has been announced as one of the two 2015 recipients of Sweden's prestigious Polar Music Prize.
Now in its 24th year, the Polar Music Prize, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize for music," recognizes one Laureate from contemporary music and one from the classical world, this years other winner being the country music star Emmylou Harris. The Prize honors "significant achievements in music and/or music activity" and endeavors "to break down musical boundaries" , past recipients include Sir Paul McCartney, Ravi Shankar, Steve Reich, Dizzy Gillespie and Bob Dylan.
