We are devastated to announce the sudden death of our Business Development Director, David Bobby, a hugely respected colleague and dear friend, both within the company and across the entire print publishing industry.

David died in hospital on Wednesday 26th June 2013, having been taken ill less than 24 hours earlier with a 'mystery' illness which the hospital was unable to diagnose at the time. We have since learned that the cause of death was a ruptured aorta.

Words cannot express how much David will be missed by his colleagues. He was an exceptionally skilled and effective Director, a consummate professional, and possessed an extraordinary ability to enthuse, inspire and draw together both his own staff and others across the company. Since his early days in the industry - from Boosey & Hawkes to Kevin Mayhew, then Faber Music, Trinity and finally Faber Music once more as a Director - he blended enthusiasm and a terrific sense of fun with utter professionalism, making and retaining deep friendships wherever he worked.

In the short time he worked for Faber in his capacity as a Director he propelled the company's sales business forward unbelievably rapidly, achieving in nine months what most could only achieve in years. As a result we have an amazing platform on which to build and, despite being utterly unprepared for this shock, we are able to move forward with confidence thanks to David's brilliant strategic work.

David's funeral will take place on Friday 12th July near Colchester and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. If you would like to attend, please contact information@fabermusic.com and we will convey the details.

Accolades to David, highlighting his wonderful personality and unparalleled professionalism, continue to flood in from around the world. We are keeping all of these carefully and will collect them in a memorial book for his family in due course. If you would like to contribute to this book, please feel free to email your own memories of David to davidbobbytribute@fabermusic.com or alternatively on our Faber Music Facebook page.
