West Australian Symphony Orchestra present two live performances of Carl Vine's short concert-opener V this season. The first, on 12 May was included as part of a programme on the theme of romance alongside Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, Bizet's Carmen Suite No.1, and the Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. Thaddeus Huang conducted.

The second performance is as part of a family friendly event on 12 June. Huang conducts again, this time pairing V with Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. The concert is in Perth Concert Hall.

Vine's short fanfare for orchestra was commissioned by the WASO and premiered in 2003 by the same orchestra conducted by Richard Divall. The single letter title is a simple roman numeral referencing the 5-minute duration.
