Programme Notes
A winter piece, introspective, exploring the resonance of sounds and their recollection. While writing février I tried to remove obvious signs of musical expression, allowing nuances of the sounds space to be heard. I ask the cellist and clarinetist to play subtle, unusual tunings: to my imagination these are like cracks of muted light between the suspended piano chords.
