Performance Notes
Percussion
SET-UP A: 4 mallets labelled 1-4 (from left to right)
- Soft vibraphone Mallet
- Hot-rod
- Hot-rod
- Regular drum stick
The percussionist should exaggerate movements used on the Toms in the right hand.
Unless otherwise stated, two hot-rods will always be used on the suspended cymbal.
- X note heads on the top of the stave indicate cymbal
- Diamond note-heads indicate sizzle cymbal
- X note heads within the stave indicate rim of drum
- Regular note-heads within the stave indicate 3 toms.
The set-up should begin to the percussionists’ left, and move right as the piece goes on. eg. Vibraphone at the very right, BD in centre etc.
Trombone
Tremolo sign indicates flutter tongue.
Please gradually move between music stands (see set-up page at end of score).
Trombonist should remain parallel to the percussionist at all times (minimum 3 music stands required)
