The Really Easy Viola Book presents twelve original compositions, written specially for the beginner viola player and set out to explore the mellow character of the instrument, sitting comfortably in its natural range. The pieces are arranged progressively, beginning with open strings, then introducing each finger in turn, first on the D string and then on the other strings. Later pieces introduce slurs, accidentals and new bowing patterns. Above all, the aim is to enable the beginner violist to make real music from the very start—technical limitations do not prevent the player from enjoying music which is imaginative, exciting and fun. The piano accompaniments have been kept as simple as possible
