The Three Spirituals contained in this volume, 'Go down, Moses', 'Deep River' and 'Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel', were written and first performed in 1998. Each presents a different 'mini-drama'; a song of revolt, one of release, and finally a sermon of joyous acceptance.
