Last week saw Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts perform a ten-day run of Howard Goodall's widely acclaimed musical Girlfriends. Performed at London's Karamel Club, the production has already received a fantastic review from lead critic, Mark Shenton. Congratulations to everyone from Mountview that took part!

"Mountview previously presented Girlfriends in 2012, pairing it with The Hired Man (the latter directed by Paul Clarkson, the Olivier-winning star of the original). This time around, Julie Atherton - a Mountview alumnus - has made her directional debut with a tenderly and exhilaratingly beautiful production.

I've seen Girlfriends at just about every chance I can, and this time it sounded it sounded as good as it ever has - all credit to musical director Michael Bradley for great new arrangements. Kudos, too, to Atherton's clever marshalling of a large cast to contain the sprawling narrative and a vocally talented ensemble"
