Five Telegrams is a unique collaboration between acclaimed composer Anna Meredith, and 59 Productions, the Tony Award-winning design company whose work includes the London 2012 Opening Ceremony and the National Theatre's hit War Horse.  The new 22-minute work for choir and orchestra will premiere on the opening night of the BBC Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall on 13 July.  It is also the opening night event of the Edinburgh International Festival on 3 August.

Part of 14-18 NOW and a commemorative response in the centenary year of the end of World War One, Five Telegrams is a co-commission from 14-18 NOW, the BBC Proms and the Edinburgh International Festival – the first time these two major festivals have worked together in this way. The work draws on communications sent by young soldiers in 1918 and features specially-produced digital projections, creating a unique spectacle.
