Faber Music is proud to support Sound and Music with ten Faber Music Bursaries, which have been made available to young composers and music creators to attend the Sound and Music Summer School for 2022 and 2023. Following the launch of the partnership between Faber Music and Sound and Music in 2021, this continued financial support will cover the full costs of a Summer School place for ten young people for the next two years.

Both Sound and Music and Faber Music are committed to ensuring that young people from all backgrounds have more opportunities to learn composition and develop their skills. The Faber Music Bursaries will provide access for students who would otherwise face a barrier to taking part because of their family’s financial circumstances.

Now in its 14th year, the Sound and Music Summer School is the only annual residential course of its kind in the UK for young composers and music creators aged 14-18. Each year 75 young people participate in a unique week working alongside professional composers and musicians, allowing them to explore new areas of musical creation. The week-long residential gives young people the opportunity to explore and develop their musical creativity, with focuses on song writing, jazz, film music, cross-cultural, electronic, and instrumental genres. Alumni have gone on to study at the country’s best conservatoires and received prestigious commissions.
