Nigerian composer Fela Sowande’s African Suite for harp and string orchestra (1955), combining West African melodies with European styles and techniques, enjoys its very first performance at the BBC Proms on 24 August, as part of a concert by Chineke! Orchestra conducted by Kalena Bovell. Faber Music is proud to represent this joyful but neglected work under its agency agreement with Warner Chappell Music.
