Josh Cohen presents a second volume of Radiohead tracks arranged for solo piano with lyrics. Out on 13 November, published by Faber Music, Josh Cohen: Radiohead for Solo Piano II features approved piano transcriptions of Radiohead’s best-loved songs. Suitable for the intermediate to advanced pianist, many of the transcriptions have been made popular by Cohen’s YouTube performances and are available exclusively in this collection, with a playing guide and introduction from the arranger. The book is beautifully produced with cover design by Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood, whose artwork also features throughout the book as mono prints.

Josh explains about his approach to arranging Radiohead’s songs: “Over the years, I have subconsciously developed and refined a unique style of playing the piano, which is heavily influenced by my jazz and improvisation training, as well as playing through contemporary songbooks just like this one. In a nutshell, this process involves approaching music through a very different lens, as opposed to my classical training, by thinking outside the box and discovering new and creative ways to make my arrangements interesting and engaging. Radiohead’s catalogue lends itself perfectly to this approach, which is why in my opinion so many jazz musicians reinterpret their works time and time again.”

The transcriptions featured in Josh Cohen: Radiohead for Solo Piano II are the culmination of this process that combines Josh’s love of the piano with repertoire that he deeply admires. The tracks in this collection have a slightly different feel than those in the first piano book, with a more organic style of playing piano being meticulously notated.
