'…gorgeous orchestral arrangements that add tension, mystique and wonder to every corner of the beautiful subterranean world.' The Sixth Axis
Jessica Curry and Jim Fowler's orchestral score to the video game, Little Orpheus, has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in the category of Best Original Video Game Score, one of three finalists. The adventure platform game, developed by The Chinese Room, was originally released on the Apple Arcade platform in June 2020.
The game follows the fortunes of a Soviet cosmonaut in a world filled with lost civilizations, undersea kingdoms, and prehistoric jungles. It's an action-packed romp that pays homage to classic movies such as The Land that Time Forgot, Flash Gordon, Sinbad, and the special effects of Ray Harryhausen.
The 66th Ivors Award Ceremony takes place on 21 September at Grosvenor House, London. The awards honour songwriting across commercial releases and screen composition across film, television and video games released in the UK during 2020.
An 11-minute orchestral suite from Little Orpheus is available for hire and will be launching in 2022.
