To celebrate the centenary year of Robert Simpson’s birth, the composer was featured as BBC Radio 3’s Composer of the Week from 31 May – 4 June. Over the course of one week, the show, hosted by Donald MacLeod, unpicked the life and music of the Simpson with five hour-long segments.

Topics for discussion included Simpson’s childhood in the Salvation Army, his pacifism during the Second World War, his writings on music, alongside recordings of a number of works including Symphony No.7 by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony No.8 by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Symphony No.9 by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
