Programme Notes

The Breathing of the World was composed in 2019, commissioned by conductor Gary Graden and scored for mixed choir, soprano saxophone and cello.

The piece is intended to be performed in an auditorium with reverberance, such as a church.

The text is ‘nature-lyrical’, with an undertone of melancholic reflection on the state of our planet.
