Jonny Greenwood and Anna Meredith are to join forces with pioneering string group 12 Ensemble for a live and streamed concert in London's Barbican Hall on 19 June

The programme includes Greenwood's evocative, Philip Larkin-inspired Water, for chamber orchestra, during which the composer will join the ensemble onstage, playing the tanpura.  The 18-minute work was originally commissioned and premiered by the Australian Chamber Orchestra in 2014, following Greenwood's residency with them. It was later released on ABC Classics.

Anna Meredith joins the ensemble to perform the live electronics in her composition, Moon, for amplified chamber orchestra. It was originally commissioned and launched by Sinfonia Viva in 2013 with whom she was Composer-in-Residence. The 20-minute work comprises 5 movements of 4 minutes, each inspired by the phases of the moon. Meredith's sister, Eleanor Meredith, will also be providing live drawing as the piece unfolds in what promises to be a fascinating evening.

It's available to watch in person, or online. More here.
