Commissioned for the Latvian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, on the occasion of Latvia's centenary in 2018, this four-minute work for SSATBB choir arranges two traditional tunes: Arirang, an unofficial anthem of the Korean people, and the Latvian folksing Stāvēju, dziedāju ("Singing I Stood"). Seoul's Camara Singers, under Dr Ryan Goessl, gave the premiere on November 17 of that year, nearly 100 years to the day after the declaration of Latvian independence. Text: Korean and Latvian.
