The Donizetti Clarinet Concertino (c1816) has now become quite well known to both players and audiences. Interestingly, all of Donizetti’s wind concertinos (for flute, oboe, cor anglais and clarinet) have had to be reconstructed in one way or another as none were fully completed by the composer. Clarinettists are grateful to the Swiss musicologist Raymond Meylan who made the original reconstruction in the 1970s.
