Scored for countertenor, flute, cello and piano, Anne Boyd’s richly evocative Cycle of Love from 1981 sets (in English) five sijo by Korean courtesans of the 16th century. Symmetrical in form, the 15-minute song cycle includes two interludes in which the flute and cello approximate their traditional Korean equivalents.
