Diomedea for Piano Solo by Olivia Belli

Programme Notes

Diomedea is inspired by the Isole Tremiti, also called “Diomedee” because legend has it that the Greek hero Diomedes threw three stones into the sea and from these the three islands grew. This word also indicates the particular birds of the islands. The whole piece is, in fact, like a seesaw and delightful flight, oscillating between sea and sky, hovering in the void. - Olivia Belli
