Malcolm Arnold composed his Second Flute Concerto in 1972 for Richard Adeney, who premiered it at the Aldeburgh Festival with the English Chamber Orchestra. Cast in three movements, this delightful 14-minute concerto is scored for solo flute, pairs of oboes and horns, and strings.
