This piece was composed in 2006 and first performed on 14 July 2006 at Cheltenham Ladies College, Cheltenham.

Programme Notes

Off the Rails describes an oasis of tranquility amid a harsh, explosive landscape. These two contrasting moods are constantly interspersed until each begins to take characteristics of the other as the piece gravitates towards its inevitable climax.
