Performance Notes

Horn
Breath sound: blow through the mouthpiece into the instrument.

Strings
Bow pressure should be very light whenever the dynamics are mp or quieter.
Use a very slow bow speed for the long held notes, following the bowing indications.
Sul ponticello sound should not be pitchless; overtones may be present.
Long held notes ‘somewhere between breath and pitch’: vary the sound through use of sul ponticello and vibrato, as marked.
